The Volkswagen ID.4 is getting a starring role in the upcoming Marvel movie, "Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania" which will hit U.S. theaters on February 17th. To promote this, VW is launching a global 360-degree campaign focusing on the ID.4 with custom content inspired by the movie. The car will feature as the Lang family's vehicle in the movie, nothing too special but that won't stop Volkswagen from milking this opportunity for everything it can.

As far as the campaign goes, it will consist of multiple events leading to the run-up of the film. VW and Marvel have created a custom spot that will kick off the global campaign, and it was developed and produced by Walt Disney Studios and Bullitt. Directed by Anthony Leonardi III, the spot features the car shrinking and growing with the help of Ant-Man and the Wasp, and you can take a look at it below.

"Marvel Studios films rank among the most successful movies of all time and Ant-Man is one of the most likable characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe," said Gilbert Heise, Head of Global Brand Management and Consumer Insights at Volkswagen. "Integrating the ID.4 in the movie and the accompanying campaign enables us to reach millions of people all over the world."

In addition to this, a behind-the-scenes short will give viewers insight into the making of the film and how the ID.4 was involved. On top of this, the car will be on display on the red carpet at the world premiere in Los Angeles. VW really wants us to know that the ID.4 is going to be in the film, so leading up to the movie we'll probably see more of these spots with the car in them.

Marvel has always had a good relationship with innovative vehicles, going all the way back to Tony Starks lovely R8s in the Iron Man movies. In recent years, automakers have very much seen it as an opportunity to show off their latest electric masterpieces as well, like the e-tron in "Captain Marvel" and the Ioniq 5 in "Spiderman: No Way Home."

The best is always when the movies send cars through the wringer though, and Marvel has also given us some pretty incredible chase scenes too with interesting cars like the Lexus IS 500 gunning it through a war-torn city or less interesting cars like a BMW X3 helping Black Widow escape some bad guys. Will the ID.4 be treated to something as exciting? We'll just have to wait and see.
