And it's exclusive only to the Gladiator.
Just when we didn't think the all-new 2020 Jeep Gladiator could get any cooler, we hear about this. We already knew the Gladiator offers many unique features and an attitude only Jeeps have, but the automaker has reconfirmed it's serious about enabling customers to literally go anywhere with little concern for durability. Rock crawling and other hardcore off-road adventures carry some risks, but why chance your speakers? Well, now you don't have to.
Jeep is offering a removable wireless speaker located behind the truck's foldable second-row seats that also happens to be waterproof and is exclusive to the Gladiator. "This wireless speaker behaves like any other after-market speaker but the difference is it has smart charging so it will always be charged," said Elizabeth Krear, according to Jeep. "It's smart in the sense that it only charges when it's low."
This Bluetooth speaker can be connected to any modern smartphone via a USB and only sends power to the docking station when the speaker is installed in order to conserve power. In case accidents happens – and they're bound to at some point – the speaker is also water-resistant in up to three feet of water for 30 minutes. It also has dust protection. Gold contacts deter rust from forming on the spot where the device enters the docking bay.
Oh, and because of that USB port, it can also recharge a smartphone battery. Jeep also says that if two Gladiator owners are hanging out and both have this speaker, then they can link the devices together for more of a surround sound audio experience.
Jeep did not specify how many Gladiator owners have opted for this hidden Bluetooth speaker so far, but it does cost an extra $295 on top of the 2020 Gladiator's base price of just over $33,500. Gladiator buyers are more than willing to pay extra for various features, as we've recently learned.
Given that the average Gladiator transaction price has reached $56,403, we doubt few will hesitate to tack on an extra $295 for this rad speaker.
