$5,000 off an A8, A8 Plug-in hybrid or sporty S8 sounds like a deal.
Audi's large luxury sedan has been battling the BMW 7 Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class for over two decades now. While it may not have the sporting appeal of the big Bimmer or the all-round comfort of the S-Class, it's still a very accomplished vehicle.
To remain competitive - especially with the new W223 S-Class around - the Ingolstadt-based brand previewed the updated 2022 model last year. With updated headlights, a redesigned grille, and standard OLED headlights the incoming model looks like a match for Stuttgart's finest.
But even pre-facelift models are excellent luxury sedans and, if you prefer to fly under the radar, it may be the perfect executive express. Costco's Auto Program has partnered with Audi to offer Costco members an exclusive deal on a 2021 Audi A8, A8 plug-in hybrid, or S8. Available between January 14 and February 28, a $5,000 discount is being offered on the purchase or leasing of Audi's flagship. This isn't the first time the retailer has offered incentives on Audi vehicles to members.
What's more, the discount can be used in conjunction with manufacturer incentives offered by Audi. Costco is one of the largest retailers in the world and has grown by offering members great deals on items. While the discount on an expensive luxury vehicle such as the Audi A8 may sit at odds with the average customer it was, in fact, the most requested premium sedan for members last year, according to the retailer.
While $5,000 is a lot of money, it's worth remembering the A8 has a starting price of $86,500. Even with the discount, it's still a pricey car. Then again, the price (with the discount included) starts to make sense when you compare it to the admittedly superior S-Class, which has a starting price of $109,800.
With an original MSRP of $130,900, a $5,000 discount doesn't make the S8's price tag easier to digest. However, the impressive 563-horsepower performance limo does undercut similarly powered rivals, such as BMW's $157,800 M760.
The deal has a caveat, however. If you're hoping to take advantage of this discount and don't have a Costco membership, you are going to have to miss out. The deal is only for people who have been members before January 13, 2022. What's more, would-be A8 owners need to take delivery by February 28, 2022. If you're a Costco member looking for a large luxury sedan, this may be the perfect time to snap up a pre-update A8 or S8 while you can.
