If you're in the market for a new Subaru then you'll want to pay extra close attention to this latest news. Normally at this time of the year, automakers are racing against the clock to sell and/or lease as many vehicles as possible before the New Year. Automakers authorize dealerships to offer more attractive incentives to help make this happen. Subaru is no exception. But there's something the Japanese automaker isn't currently promoting online or elsewhere: hidden APR deals.

CarsDirect has uncovered details regarding these attractive loan rates that apply for the entire 2021 lineup, the sole exceptions being the 2020 BRZ and 2020-21 WRX and WRX STI. The basic formula here is the longer the loan term, the better the rate.

Take the popular 2021 Subaru Ascent three-row crossover, for example. It's currently being advertised at 0 percent APR for 63 months, but a new dealer bulletin reveals buyers can actually obtain a 0.9 percent rate for 72 months. Say the Ascent in question costs $35,000, this hidden offer will lower monthly payments by about $56 and will cost only $967 in interest. A new 2021 Crosstrek is being advertised at 0.9 percent for 48 months, but the hidden deal changes this to 1.9 percent for 72 months. For a vehicle that costs about $25,000, the latter option reduces the monthly bill by $163 and amounts to just $1,000 in interest.

Every unadvertised loan period is for 72 months which may seem like a long time but it's not unheard of for automakers to offer 84-month loans these days, some even with 0 percent interest. But there is a catch Subaru has put into place.

Dealers are allowed to mark-up these hidden rates by up to 1 percent in order to boost profit margins. Buyers who are determined to lower their monthly Subaru payments as much as possible will surely find this information extremely useful when negotiating the final deal. It's also worth noting Subaru is offering some attractive deals on its certified used models with rates dropped as low as 0.99 percent.

Also this month, Subaru will donate up to $300 per new car sold to local and national charities as part of the Subaru Share The Love Event. Anyone interested in these offers has through January 4, 2021 to pull the trigger.
