There's Already A 2020 Corvette C8 Up For Auction

Auctions / Comments

If you want to avoid waiting, now is the time to act.

The Chevrolet Corvette is an American icon, and the latest C8 shape is something special, completely changing how the sportscar is viewed. Due to these factors, interest in the car has been incredibly overwhelming. Buyers are in a frenzy and tuners like Hennessey are showing that it's capable of serious speed. Other companies have even pushed the car to 700 horsepower.

However, not everyone is in good spirits as GM confirmed that it would not be able to fulfill all orders for the 2020 model. The Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent shutdown of many plants is partly to blame, while huge demand overtaking supply is another factor. So what if you can't wait? Well, there's a nicely-specced one up for auction with Mecum.

The silver 2020 C8 Stingray model pictured here is one of just 2,700 C8s produced before GM was forced to bring a halt to production. With just 11 miles on the clock, this particular example has barely been driven at all.

Finished in Blade Silver metallic paint with an Adrenaline Red interior, the car is also fitted with 2LT package. It boasts heated and ventilated seats, carbon fiber dash accents, a head-up display, a high-definition front parking camera, 19-/20-inch staggered wheels, and a 14-speaker Bose sound system.

It's not fully specced, however, as the available Z51 package and the optional rear spoilers are missing from the car. Still, that stunning interior color scheme is something to behold. In addition, a bone stock C8 is still a force to be reckoned with, and considering the fervor surrounding this car, we expect that the bidding will rise significantly above its current $66,000 threshold.

The original MSRP of the car is below $60,000, but if you don't want to wait for a 2021 model, paying a little extra could well be worth it for the enthusiast. Just how much that will mean for the eventual buyer is yet to be seen. The auction ends tomorrow, July 18.
