This week, the all-new 2021 Ford F-150 made its world debut, arriving with fresh new styling, a revamped interior, and a new plug-in hybrid powertrain. Six engine options have been revealed for the 2021 Ford F-150 so far, and we already know a fully electric version will arrive by mid-2022. But one variant that was noticeably absent during the reveal was the new Ford F-150 Raptor. But don't worry, a new Raptor is coming, and soon.

"There will be an all-new 2021 F-150 Raptor. We'll have more details to share about Raptor at a later date," a Ford Trucks spokesperson revealed. We can all breathe a sigh of relief.

Typically, Ford holds out a little longer before it decides to launch a new F-150 Raptor model, as seen twice before. The first-generation F-150 Raptor launched in 2009, one year after the twelfth-generation F-150 went on sale, while the current second-generation Raptor debuted in 2017, two years after the thirteenth-generation F-150 arrived.

With Ford confirming its off-road halo truck for the 2021 model year, it would mark the first time the Raptor nameplate launches at the start of the product lifecycle of America's best-selling pickup truck. However, details remain scarce at this time.

When the new Raptor eventually arrives, expect it to have a more aggressive exterior with a unique grille, wider fenders, and larger tires. Powertrain details are a mystery, however. The current F-150 Raptor is powered by a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 producing a respectable 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque, although rumors suggest it could be offered with the same 5.0-liter Coyote V8 as the Ford Mustang GT for even more power and an improved exhaust note. This should please the crowd.

When it's finally revealed, the third-generation Ford F-150 Raptor will need to be something special, because it's going to face some tough competition from Ram, its crosstown rival. Next month, the long-awaited 2021 Ram Rebel TRX will be revealed, which is expected to pack a 6.2-liter Hellcat V8 with over 700 horsepower. Nothing in the segment currently comes close.
