The Elva has a price tag of $1.8 million, but this version will only cost you $25.
With an eye-watering $1.8 million price tag and a limited production run of just 399 units, the McLaren Elva is unattainable for most people. It's one of several exotic speedsters flooding the supercar scene along with the Aston Martin V12 Speedster and the Ferrari SP1 and SP2 Monza.
However, there is now an easier, and possible, way to own a McLaren Elva. McLaren and Lego have teamed up to create a Lego Speed Champions version of the Elva Speedster. Featuring 262 pieces, the Lego Speed Champions car replicates the Elva's wide chassis, two-seater open cockpit, and prominent hood air vents. It measures 1.5 inches high, six inches long, and three inches wide.
To recreate the Elva's distinctive design, Lego worked closely with McLaren, which provided design sketches.
It even comes with a McLaren driver minifigure with a racing suit, helmet, and wrench inspired by Rachel Brown, the Principal Development Engineer for McLaren's Ultimate Series cars like the McLaren Senna GTR, which also received the Lego treatment.
"It is amazing to have witnessed the Elva go from a boundary-pushing concept drawing all the way to final vehicle production," said Brown. "It feels even more special now to see all of that hard work transformed into the Lego Speed Champions Elva model for us to share with children and fans across the world."
"Ever since I was a child I have dreamed of driving and testing cars and I still can't believe that it's a part of my job. I hope that it inspires other young people to follow their passions and pursue careers in the automotive or design and engineering industries. There are so many incredible opportunities.''
Admittedly, the limitations of the Lego Speed Champions series means this toy McLaren Elva isn't as accurate as the more intricately detailed Lego Technic cars like the Lamborghini Sian, but this is reflected in the price. Available from June 2021 from Lego's website, Lego stores, and other retailers, the Lego Speed Champions McLaren Elva will set you back a modest £17.99 ($25.48).
