Hurricane Harvey has left its destructive mark. It'll take years for the city of Houston and surrounding areas to return to normal. There are billions of dollars of property damage and, sadly, at least 31 people have been killed as of this writing. Times like this can bring out the best (and worst) in people, and some automakers want to do their part to help. Cars Direct has gathered a list of automakers who are offering residents discounts in parts of Texas and Louisiana towards a new vehicle, assuming their current one has been lost due to the hurricane.

As part of its Fiat Chrysler Disaster Relief Program, FCA is now offering a $500 disaster relief discount for Harvey victims. It can be applied towards most new 2017 and 2018 FCA vehicles, exceptions being the Dodge Viper, Jeep Wrangler, Chrysler 200, and all SRT models. This still means a vast majority of new Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep, Ram and Alfa Romeo models are still eligible. In order to receive the discount, buyers need to provide the dealership with a copy of their insurance claim form listing the damage suffered due to the storm. What's cool is that this discount can be applied with all other promotions, including factory rebates, special financing rates and lease offers. It expires on January 2, 2018.

The Hyundai Disaster Relief Program also started this week. This $750 promotion can be used on all new 2017 and 2018 Hyundai and Genesis vehicles. As is the case with FCA, eligible buyers will need to provide their local dealership with an insurance form proving damage from the hurricane. However, Hyundai is not restricting this $750 offer to residents of specific counties in Texas and Louisiana affected by the storm. Buyers can, once again, combine this offer with all other promotions, rebates and special financing offers.

GM is offering a $500 discount for these residents as part of its GM Disaster Relief Program, which can be put towards all new GM products. Only exceptions being the base models of the Malibu, Colorado and Cruze. A copy of an insurance form is required, as was the case with the previous two programs. However, GM is limiting this voucher to residents of the following counties in Texas: Aransas, Bee, Brazoria, Calhoun, Chambers, Ford Bend, Galveston, Goliad, Harris, Jackson, Kleberg, Liberty, Matagorda, Nueces, Refugio, San Patricio, Victoria, and Wharton.
