We're less than a year away from the unveiling of the all-new fourth-gen Mazda MX-5. Just call it the Mazda Miata. Pretty much everyone does except Mazda. But anyway, while there was a rumor (later proven false) claiming the new Miata would debut at New York instead of Chicago next year, Mazda did however put on display the new car's SkyActiv chassis. It was cool to see, but only really interesting if you're, say, an engineer.

Fortunately, the crew at Auto Express has created this new set of renderings of the next Miata based on the chassis dimensions. The current styling language has been incorporated as well. Mazda officials have also gone on record stating the new Miata will have a back-to-basics approach, thus it'll be smaller and lighter than the current version. These renderings are the best we've seen to date. We really can't image the final production version looking dramatically different.
