BMW has been rumored to be working on a new version of the M2, which will soon replace the standard car. The car will likely be called the M2 Competition and it is expected to be revealed this April. So far, we have only seen test mules running on the Nurburgring, but BMW Blog has just shared a leaked image of the car that was originally shared on Instagram. The leaked image shows a Hockenheim Silver car with a revised front fascia and new M side mirrors. It may not be the clearest image, but it is our first real look at the new M2.

The changes to the front end aren't drastic, but the grill is definitely wider and sits closer to the edge of the headlights. Unlike the current M2, the grill is painted black. The lower part of the bumper has also been updated with sharper angles and a more sculpted look. Sources claim that the new M2 will ditch the two separate kidney grill design in favor of a one-piece design. We find it hard to believe that this car would ditch a design element that has been on pretty much every BMW for decades, but we'll have to wait until we see the car in full. As expected, this new car will also have a wider body than the current M2.

On the interior the car is expected to get some small updates such as stitching and M Sport seats to differentiate the new model. We can't wait to see this new M2 and we are sure that more details will come out as we get closer to the car's reveal in April.
