Hertz has a history in offering true performance cars to its customers. It's hard to forget the 100 bright yellow with black stripes 650-horsepower Corvette Z06s the company offered to celebrate its 100th anniversary. Or, it's "Kollektion 7" in Germany that included the Mercedes-AMG GT available to rent from the Frankfurt airport.

Now, Hertz has teamed up with Hendrick Motorsports, of NASCAR fame, to offer modified Chevrolet Camaros for customers to rent beginning mid-October from Hertz airport locations across the US. Two models will be available based on the Camaro SS and Camaro ZL1.

Both the SS and ZL1 Hertz-Hendrick Motorsports Camaros are decked out in a two-tone livery made up Hertz's corporate colors of black and yellow. They also have custom 20-inch satin black wheels and Hertz fender badges along with illuminated door sill plates. Inside, they feature an individually numbered plaque and embroidered headrests that feature the No. 24 team logo and Hertz-sponsored Hendrick Motorsports driver William Byron's signature.

The Camaro SS is modified with a strut tower brace, a cold air intake, and a cat-back dual exhaust system. The breathing brings an extra 25 horsepower to the stock output, adding up to 480 hp from the 6.2-liter V8 engine.

The Hertz-Hendrick Motorsports Camaro ZL1 has the same aesthetic upgrades, but the 6.2-liter V8 engine has a Calloway supercharger bolted on to help bring an extra 130 hp over stock, that means a new total of 750 hp going to the rear wheels.

Only 24 of the ZL1 models and 200 of the SS models will be available to rent. As a result, the SS will be available at quite a few airports across the US, including Atlanta, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Las Vegas, Phoenix and many more. The ZL1 will only be available from a few of the locations, and either way we recommend getting the extra insurance when you rent one.
