The next time you travel to Germany and don't feel like taking publication transportation, renting a car is really the only alternative. Fortunately, you're in a country with plenty of renowned driving roads, specifically the Autobahn. Taking a rental car on the Nurburgring is prohibited by rental companies for obvious reasons. But to properly take part in German driving culture, wouldn't it make sense to be in possession of a truly outstanding German-built and engineered car? Of course it would, and that's where international rental company Hertz comes into the picture. It has just announced its new "Kollektion 7" which translates to exactly what you'd expect. All of the cars come from Germany, specifically BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Porsche. Here's the full list of choices:

BMW 850i Cabriolet

BMW Z4 Roadster

Mercedes-AMG GT

Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4-Door Coupe

Porsche 718 Boxster

Porsche Macan S

Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid

Not surprisingly, all of the vehicles are painted in either black, yellow, or red, Germany's official colors. In fact, Hertz is the only international rental car company that's willing to rent out the Mercedes-AMG GT, which has been used as a safety car in Formula 1 since 2015. "Kollektion 7" is currently only available at the Frankfurt Airport, but there are plans to roll out the program to an additional six locations across the country, including Dusseldorf and Munich, later this year.

"With the launch of our Kollektion 7 prestige offer we are meeting customer demand for an exceptional driving experience and exclusive service, combined in a stylish leisure offering," said Alida Scholtz, Managing Director of Hertz Germany. "Around the world, the 'Made in Germany' moniker is a hallmark of quality and engineering excellence. This new collection brings those values to life – allowing Hertz customers to experience premium automotive and high-end German brands in a unique, engaging, and entertaining way."

No pricing has been announced but we have no doubt it'll be quite a bit higher than your standard rental. Customers will also be treated to unique, city-specific driving experiences as part of the package. In fact, Hertz is even providing a gift basket of local samples. Hertz has been known for years as the mainstream rental car company offering high-performance and special vehicles. In the US, there was the Hertz Ford Mustang, a program that originally dated back to 1966 with the Shelby Mustang GT350-H. Most recently, yellow Chevrolet Corvette Z06s were offered in very limited numbers across the US. But now it's Germany's turn.
