The Tesla P90D isn't insane. No, it's ludicrous. Its claimed ability to reach 60 mph in 2.8 seconds is head-jarringly quick. Tesla claims that the vehicle is the fastest accelerating sedan on the road today, which is true. But Road & Track managed to create a list of nine cars that will show a Tesla P90D and its Ludicrous Mode a set of taillights. Any guesses on which cars can accelerate faster than the P90D? Keep in mind that the P90D is an electric luxury car that weighs roughly 4,600 lbs.

The nine cars that can beat a P90D in Ludicrous Mode are: 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S (2.6 secs), 2012 Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 (2.7 secs), 2006 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 (2.6 secs), 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder (2.5 secs), 2015 GT-R Nismo (2.8 secs), 2015 McLaren 650S Spider (2.7 secs), 2015 Lamborghini Huracan (2.8 secs), 2014 Ferrari LaFerrari (2.4 secs) and the 2014 McLaren P1 (2.7 secs). The aforementioned supercars will beat (or match) a P90D to 60 mph, but all cost much more than the $118,000 P90D. While we may be comparing apples to oranges, the new P90D is truly a heavy-hitter and will demolish anything besides these nine cars with ease.
