These Two Renegades Have Finally Gotten Some Jazz

Guitar-inspired design finally gives baby Jeeps a much-needed makeover.

As a model that has suffered quite a bit of hate since Jeep first unveiled it last year, the Renegade has worked hard to finally win over the hearts of brand enthusiasts who claim that 'this isn't a real Jeep'. And while this featured makeover may not help the small SUV ford any rivers or climb any mountains, the two one-off examples unveiled on July 4th at the Montreux Jazz Festival prove that this car can pull of a stylish design. Inspired by classic electro-acoustic guitars, the two Renegades were built by Garage Italia Customs, featuring custom exteriors and interior.

With nine coats of paint and three-color shading treatments in Cherry Black Burst and Classic Black Burst, the duo also features unique exterior design elements like six-string-inspired pinstripes. The design theme continues inside, where materials like black denim are applied to the headliner, shift boots and door panels and bespoke Foglizzo colored leather adorns the seats. Garage Italia hasn't detailed any actual tuning or modifications to the Jeep's mechanical underpinnings, but from a design point of view, these are certainly the finest-looking concepts crafted from this model. The two beauties will be on display at the Geneva and Zurich airports through July 18th.
