They Call this One 'The Ugly Jeep'

It may be ugly on the outside, but this old, beaten-up 1951 Jeep is one of the coolest 4x4s out there.

It started life as a 1951 Jeep CJ3a but over the years it’s become something different entirely. Back in 1989, it even graced the cover of Four Wheeler magazine and it managed to change what a true 4x4 could become for host Fred Williams. Dubbed the "Ugly Jeep", this old 4x4 was built during a time when most trucks were splattered with chrome and bright colors. By contrast, this thing doesn’t even have any paint to speak of. Its owner, a strange fellow by the name of Jimmy, describes the color as "invisible brown".

In fact, the nastier it looks on the outside, the more character it seems to have underneath. Powered by a torquey and lightweight V8, the entire thing was customized for the sole purpose of off-roading.
