Would You Like Some RS6 Avant With Your Turbos?
It has only been a week since Audi's beastly 591-HP RS6 Avant arrived in America, and Audi enthusiasts couldn't be happier. This family-friendly performance machine looks the part with massive front intakes, large wheels, and dual exhaust exits, and performs more like a supercar than a family wagon. Audi has also recently launched an RS6 Avant Tribute edition which will be limited to only 25 models and features Nogaro Blue exterior paint with black accents as well as a set of 22-inch, five-spoke trapezoid design cast-aluminum wheels amongst others. These cars might keep most happy, but there will always be some who crave more power. To those, we would like to introduce the MTM-tuned Audi RS6 Avant with 1,001 horsepower. You read that right.
This machine has been pushed to the limit and is the perfect example of how easy it is to tune modern turbo cars. The standard RS6 Wagon produces 591 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque from its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. The MTM tune takes that power up to 1,001 hp and 958 lb-ft of torque. The 0-60 mph sprint is lowered from 3.6 seconds down to 2.8 seconds, while the 124 mph sprint now takes 8.2 seconds, down from 12 seconds. That's supercar pace. "Traditionally from the very start of every RS project our engineering team sets out to reach the outer limits in performance upgrading, and the MTM product range for the RS6 covers everything from engine, suspension, and brakes through to the complete conversion of the transmission." its website says.
The 1,001-hp 'Stage 4' package includes upgraded turbos with larger turbine shafts and larger compressor wheels, as well as reinforced axial bearings and enlarged turbocharger inlets. The exhaust system is completely overhauled, and the transmission is recalibrated to handle the extra power. MTM also offers a stage 1 kit (787 hp and 759 lb-ft of torque) through to a stage 3 (962 hp and 922 lb-ft) packages. The stage four package will cost you $44.489, but MTM also offers goodies such as suspension kits for $5,990 and even warranty plans for up to two years. We live in an era where road-going 1,000 hp wagons are a thing, and it's awesome.
