Car enthusiasts are always trying to take their vehicle to the next level, often adding horsepower to get around a track quicker. But what if there was a way to improve lap times without touching the engine at all? Popular Florida-based Ford tuning specialist Steeda has just the product. The company has today revealed a new MagneRide Controller for the Ford Mustang, which can recalibrate the suspension to make the car quicker.

Steeda teamed up with suspension experts DSC Sport to completely transform how the Mustang handles. After hundreds of hours of testing, the company says its Steeda High Performance Calibration makes the MagneRide suspension more comfortable on the highway and stiffer on road courses.

The controller works for 2016-2022 Mustang models equipped with MagneRide, and we imagine Steeda will make it work for the upcoming Mustang Dark Horse. It costs $1,599.95, but is currently available to pre-order for $100 off with a mid-October ship date. Steeda says the controller works best when paired with its Dual Rate Springs, but it will also work with most factory Ford suspension (check Steeda's fitment chart before ordering).

While testing at the Florida International Rally & Motorsport Park, Steeda says it was able to shave two seconds per lap in its Mustang Mach 1 development car. For those unfamiliar with The FIRM, two seconds per lap is pretty significant.

The best part about this product is that installation only takes around 15 minutes to complete simply by replacing the factory controller in the trunk. It even includes a bracket to make the installation process easier. Once the controller is installed, just cycle through the factory Mustang drive modes and it's good to go. In normal mode, the Mustang will have a softer ride on the highway versus the stock calibration. In track mode, the new calibration will enhance grip without forcing owners to run stiff springs that ruin everyday comfort. The controller even gives owners the ability to reset the ride height sensors.

Improving the suspension may not carry the same bragging rights as adding 100 hp, but if the goal is to go quicker around a track without breaking the bank, this Steeda Mustang MagneRide Controller seems like a great option. All of the settings are locked, meaning it doesn't require any additional tuning from owners. Whether you own a Mustang EcoBoost, GT, Mach 1, Shelby GT350, or a GT500, this little device can help make your car faster. And making the car more comfortable on the highway is a pretty nice bonus.
