This is not a typical E38 BMW 7 Series. The third-generation flagship sedan enjoys a loyal following and there are plenty of high-quality used examples out there for sale, but none are like this one. Up for sale on eBay in Germany is this literally brand new 1998 BMW 740i. It looks no different than the day it left the dealership over two decades ago. What was the owner's secret? It was stored in an air capsule. Seriously.

According to the listing, the car was built in 1997 and was registered in Germany that year as well. It was purchased by an elderly woman who barely drove it but for unknown reasons, didn't keep it for very long. It was soon transported to its current location of Gogolin Slaski in Poland and placed in "an air capsule with mechanical air circulation." This is the reason for its incredible state. There's not a scratch or any tiny flake of dust anywhere to be found. Total mileage: 158 miles.

Again, no reason was given for this decision but we're sure glad someone did what they did. Completely unrestored finds like this rarely come up. Under its hood lies a lovely 4.4-liter V8 producing 282 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. It's paired to a five-speed ZF automatic transmission which sends power directly to the rear wheels. Back in 1998, those output figures were quite something, though today they're not anywhere near what the current generation 7 Series is capable of.

The included photos do a nice job showcasing the car's perfect condition and we're willing to bet there won't be any problems selling it.

Speaking of which, how much is the asking price? At the time of this writing, the highest bid was 50,700 Euros, roughly $55,000 and there are still six days remaining until the auction ends. However, anyone interested needs to also know the seller won't ship the car to the US or Japan. In other words, it'll have to stay at home in Europe.
