The UK-based Amalgam Collection is a model maker that specializes in intricate, beautiful scale replicas. We've talked about the company before, first with its motorsport Gulf-livery Ford GT and in August with more 24 Hours of Le Mans legends. The company has built them in 1:8 scale, 1:18 scale and even 1:1 scale, which it calls a Full Size Steering Wheel Replica.

But today Amalgam revealed a new replica size of 1:4. That makes this Mercedes-AMG F1 W11 EQ Performance driven by multi-F1 champion Lewis Hamilton a perfect choice for its first big car. It was the car Hamilton set the fastest pole position lap in F1 history and the one that he drove to his seventh consecutive championship.

The Mercedes-AMG measures 49 inches long and features Hamilton's race number of 44 at the 2020 Portuguese Grand Prix. According to Amalgam "the 1:4 scale replica precisely captures every technical detail of the bodywork and the sleek all-black livery, created following Mercedes' public pledge to support the global movement against racism, and improve the diversity of the team."

Only seven examples of the hand-crafted model will be built, one for each championship year. Portugal is where Hamilton overtook Michael Schumacher for the most F1 wins, making it a fitting car to replicate. The model features the period correct sponsors too. It costs $35,000, so with a couple thousand extra you could also get a Honda Civic Type R.

Thankfully, Amalgam isn't stopping there. It has two more 1:4 editions coming soon. Driver's Valtteri Bottas and George Russell editions are next. The Russell edition will get the number 63 car livery worn at the Rolex Sakhir Grand Prix last year. Amalgam says it has already received a deposit for one of those Russell cars, as the young driver is set to run alongside Hamilton at Mercedes, who just dropped its most affordable AMG model, next year.

"The W11 was almost unbeatable in the hands of Lewis Hamilton, and will sit alongside the likes of the McLaren MP4/4, the Williams FW17 and the Ferrari F2004 in the pantheon of most dominant F1 cars in the history of the sport," said founder of Amalgam Collection Sandy Copeman. "We're honored to have the opportunity to build a full range of scale models and steering wheel replicas on behalf on the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team. It's also our pleasure to share some very artistic photography and video of the artisans in our Bristol workshop building these phenomenal display pieces."
