Nothing screams grass-roots street racing like a multi-million dollar Hollywood movie franchise and a $580k wristwatch. If you've been in a conscious state for the past two decades, you'll probably have heard of the Fast 'n Furious movie franchise. These films have romanticized and popularized the car modification and illegal street racing scene for years, and have made stars out of cars such as the Toyota Supra and Dodge Charger. These movies are adored by millions, and many brands have jumped on board in recent years to share in the limelight. One such brand is Jacob & Co. a luxury watchmaker which recently launched a $580,000 limited edition watch celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Fast & Furious franchise.

The epic timepiece named the "Fast & Furious Twin Turbo" was revealed ahead of the theatrical release of the latest Fast & Furious movie, F9. The watch is based on the company's Twin Turbo Furious platform, which was also used in the brand's collaboration with Bugatti. This is no ordinary watch: the detail that goes into building one of these masterpieces is astonishing. The design starts with an 88-part forged carbon case with a brushed steel bezel and features a sapphire crystal dial complete with the starting girl and two checkered flags, reminiscent of the first movie. The famous Dodge Charger and Toyota Supra of characters Dominique Toretto and Brian O'Conner are also proudly on display.

Internally, the watch is powered by a Jacob & Co. caliber JCFM05. This movement includes 832 components and two triple-axis tourbillons that rotate at speeds of 24, 48, and 180-seconds on each axis. "Our Twin Turbo Furious is such a natural fit for the Fast & Furious franchise. Not only the name of our watch but the whole emphasis on speed and being exceptional. Jacob & Co. has been in many important and successful partnerships, but we have never partnered with an entity that so closely fits our DNA," said Benjamin Arabov, Jacob & Co. CEO.

Only nine of these $580k timepieces will ever see the light of day and will go on sale on 25 June, the same day as the release of F9 in American cinemas.
