AMG GT R Roadster

When you imagine a tuned Mercedes-AMG product, you'll most likely think of Brabus, a company whose creations are insanely fast and designed to look wild from any angle. But if you prefer more of a performance focus than an aesthetic one and want to make a base-model AMG as fast as a Ferrari, Posaidon is the tuner to turn to. The company's enhancements are good enough to make the A45 S a Porsche rival on the Ring, and now it has turned its attention to another Mercedes-AMG machine, specifically the GT R Roadster. As standard, this car's 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 produces 577 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, but with the Posaidon touch, those numbers jump - a lot.

The new tuning package called the RS 830+ pushes the output of the M178 engine to 880 hp with an electronically limited torque cap of 737 lb-ft. This makes it even more powerful than the Nurburgring-conquering AMG GT Black Series. The enhanced performance has been achieved by means of two new ball-bearing turbochargers, forged pistons, upgraded fuel pumps, a new high-flow air filter, and high-performance spark plugs. New exhaust manifolds lead to bigger downpipes with sports catalytic converters too.

Of course, to make all this work in harmony, an ECU tune has been specially developed and helps the car now reach 0-62 mph in 2.9 seconds, with the top speed limiter moved to an astonishing 223 mph.

The transmission has also been retuned "in terms of both its software and hardware," although specifics are not mentioned. And if 880 horses are too many for you to tame, the regular RS 830 package with less aggressive hardware produces 830 hp and 700 lb-ft. That may still be a bit too extreme, so Posaidon offers a more restrained upgrade too, producing 780 hp and 626 lb-ft, but all three options get reinforced transmission hardware. And for those who want just a touch of extra spice can simply have the ECU retuned to deliver 670 hp and 590 lb-ft.

Posaidon doesn't list pricing for any of these upgrades, but with packages for all versions of the GT, as well as the ability to remove the speed limiter from any Mercedes vehicle, we're sure the tuner won't be short of customers.
