European touring car series have a massive following in Europe, and the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) must be one of the most popular. This racing series pits highly modified sedans against each other, and has seen some interesting vehicles entering for a chance at taking the top spot. From the classic Volvo P1800, to the modern BMW M4 DTM Edition, European car brands pride themselves on their touring car history, and now one lucky rich person can own a part of that history: RM Sotheby's is auctioning a 1995 Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI "Jagermeister" which sports a massively successful career in the DTM series throughout the mid 90s.

The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is currently the fastest Alfa you can buy, and stands in stark contrast to the car you see in front of you: whereas the Giulia Quadrifoglio is refined, luxurious, and controllable, this 155 race car is brash, loud, and unwieldy at best. This 1995 155 Touring Car was constructed by Alfa Corse and sport chassis number 005. The car was delivered to Milan-based Alfa satellite squad, Euroteam for the 1995 DTM season. In it's first race, this 155 managed a 6th place finish, and pole position in the inaugural ITC round in Helsinki. The team finished 10th in the overall DTM standings for that year. The car was sold on to various teams throughout the 90s where it achieved moderate success.

The car was sold to the vendor in 2017 who sent it off to marque specialists Fabrizio Pandolfi, Lindlmaier Motortechnik and Scuderia GT for a complete engine, chassis and suspension rebuild, totaling 170,000 Euros (around $190,000) while retaining its iconic orange Jagermeister livery.

The car is prepared for DTM Revival and "Youngtimer'' events, and is expected to sell for around 700,000 Euros (around $790,000). Alfa Romeo's motorsport history is long and proud, but its exploits of the 80s and 90s sometimes get overlooked for the classic era of the 50s and 60s. This sublime 155 makes us forget all about sleek and sexy.
