Is there anything scarier than losing control of your car at high speed while you wait for the inevitable impact? Racing drivers face this risk every time they get behind the wheel, where mechanical failure can lead to some horrifying accidents. Unfortunately, that's exactly what happened during a BMW track day at the Hermanos Rodriguez circuit in Mexico. Dash cam footage shows the pack slowing for a corner following a high speed straight.

Out of nowhere, a driver experiences brake failure and was unable to avoid slamming into the back of a BMW 3 series at full speed. The speed of the collision is utterly wince-worthy, sending both cars spinning out of control into the gravel in a shower of debris.

Considering that the corner is located after a long, high speed straight, we don't want to think about how fast the BMW must have been going when it hit the other car. Miraculously, both drivers walked away and "are ok" according to the video description, which is a testament to modern car safety features. The same probably can't be said for the battered Bimmers, but judging from the severity of the accident, this could have been much, much worse.
