London may be the UK's most well-known city when it comes to jackass supercar owners. It's attempting to crack down on said asshats, but progress has been slow so far. Maybe Londoners need to take a page from the Northampton playbook and start impounding supercars. The English city recently towed away a Ferrari F12 after its owner was seen "using the luxury sports car in Northampton town centre yesterday in a manner likely to cause alarm, distress and annoyance."
That quote comes from Special Inspector Anthony Rawson of the Northamptonshire Safer Roads Team. Inspector Rawson tweeted some details of the seizure, saying the driver had a prior S59 warning. S59 lets cops penalize drivers who are a nuisance, as in those who annoy or freak people out with their crazy driving. It's probably hard not to drive crazy in a car with 730 horsepower and a top speed of 211 mph, but don't do so on public roads! While the car was impounded the driver won't face any charges or stiff penalties. There's just a fixed fee that must be paid to release the car from the impound lot. Still, it's nice to see a city in England fighting back against supercar owners who sometimes seem to think they're above the law.
