The 2022 New York is shaping up to be a good one after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic. Big reveals from the Big Apple will include the new BMW i7, possibly a new engine from Jeep, and a new electric hypercar. The latter comes from a company we've never heard of called Deus Automobiles GmbH. This doesn't come as much surprise since the automaker was founded only two years ago in Vienna, Austria and is set to reveal its first car in New York.

We don't know what the company's first vehicle will be called, but we know it's an all-electric hypercar. That means it will likely go toe-to-toe with giants like the Lotus Evija, Pininfarina Battista, and Rimac Nevera. To conquer such Goliaths, David (Deus) has employed some big names from the automotive industry.

Judging by the single teaser image, the Deus hypercar will feature some outrageous styling with a one-of-a-kind ellipse taillight signature. It's no wonder why the car looks interesting because it was styled by Italdesign, the Italian design house that turned the Nissan GT-R into the bespoke GT-R 50 by Italdesign. Deus says Italdesign provided it with "strategic and technical support necessary to help get its creative visions ready for the road while playing the role of enabling and integrating emerging and innovative vehicle technologies."

Also jumping in to aid in the creation of this new hypercar is Williams Advanced Engineering; yes, that's the same Williams of Formula 1 fame. Last year Williams announced plans to develop a new all-electric vehicle architecture (with help from Italdesign) that would underpin several vehicles ranging from sports cars to crossovers. We believe Deus is the first automaker to use the EVX modular electric vehicle platform from Williams.

We look forward to learning more details about the car, including range, horsepower, performance, price, and oh yeah... the name! The Austrian brand with the lightning bolt in its logo could be one to watch, or yet another EV startup that makes big claims then goes bankrupt before building any cars.
