Here's why.
The Toyota Supra is a near-mythical creature to JDM fans around the world. We're talking about the 2JZ-GTE powered A80 generation of course. The new car might share a name, but to many, it's simply a BMW Z4 in disguise. The fourth-generation Supra has become highly collectible in recent years, and clean examples are going for big money. Even Paul Walker's gaudy Fast & Furious movie car sold for a massive $550,000 last month. There are some clean examples trading on the internet, but this latest model for sale via Bring a Trailer has completely blown our minds. This original-owner, 1995 Toyota Supra Turbo has the coveted six-speed manual transmission, and only 7k on the odometer.
From what we can tell by looking at the photos, this thing is spotless. The exterior features the original Renaissance Red paint job, that awesome removable roof panel, classic rear wing, front lip spoiler, optional mudguards, and the original 17-inch wheels, which hide four-wheel disk brakes. The silver 17-inch wheels are wrapped in dated 235/45 front and 255/40 rear Michelin Pilot SX tires that will have to be replaced. The brake calipers show off the Supra script.
Under the hood lies one of the best engines ever to come out of Japan: the twin-turbocharged and intercooled 3.0L 2JZ-GTE inline-six. This motor produces 320 horsepower and 315 lb-ft of torque from the factory and sends its power to the rear wheels via a Getrag six-speed manual transmission and a Torsen limited-slip differential.
The interior features ivory leather upholstery with matching carpets and a black dashboard, door panels, and floor mats. Standard interior features include a CD/cassette player, automatic climate control, dual front airbags, and cruise control. The Supra's tach shows off an 8k-rpm limit and a top speed of 180 mph.
The original window sticker shows a total price of $52,524. The current bid stands at $136,000. The auction ends in seven days. May the best man win.
