This Is All The Jaguar F-Pace Needs To Smash The Porsche Macan For Good

Hint: lots of horsepower.

It may have taken a few years to get this to market, but the wait for the all-new Jaguar F-Pace was worth it. Jaguar has great expectations for this new SUV, which may just be the best-looking one out there. The jury is still out on that verdict. But after getting a better look at the F-Pace for our latest unboxing review, we realized it has (almost) everything it needs to squash its Porsche Macan rival. We just hope Jaguar has the guts to make it happen. So what is it?

The F-Pace is in desperate need of receiving Jaguar's 5.0-liter supercharged V8, the very same engine found in the F-Type R. Look, the Macan Turbo has, well, a turbo engine. A 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 with 395 hp, to be exact. Screw that. We want to see that supercharged V8 with over 500 ponies under the F-Pace's hood.

Technically it should be possible but we'll leave that to Jaguar's engineering team to figure out. In the meantime, you can get an F-Pace with a choice of two engines, a brand new turbo diesel four banger with 180 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque or the familiar 3.0-liter supercharged V6, offered in two output flavors, 340 hp and 380 hp. But we just can't get the idea of that puffer V8 out of our heads . Make it happen, Jaguar. Special thanks to Jaguar Sacramento for allowing us to shoot the car.
