This Is How Bugatti Divo Customers Are Ordering Their Cars

Customizing the Divo can take hours of consultation.

As you might imagine, configuring a multi-million-dollar hypercar isn't as simple as hopping online and checking boxes on an online Build & Price tool. Just about every aspect of the car can be custom-ordered to the customer's exact specifications, from the exterior paint color down to the engine covers.

In a release this week, Bugatti shared some of the diverse ways that customers are ordering their Divo hypercars, in a process that can take up to five hours of consulting with a Bugatti designer - or longer. One customer reportedly met with the automaker numerous times over the course of a full year to customize their car just the way they wanted it.

"Customers often have their own ideas, such as family crests, national flags, their own logos or special color schemes," says Bugatti Sales Coordinator Anne Beynat. "We then try to implement the ideas in technical terms. Some customers choose the leather and color to match their handbag or their favorite pair of shoes. Most of them already own a Bugatti, so we know their preferences. Our Divo customers all already drive at least one Chiron."

But things can get even more choosy. Special wheel logos, customized grilles, colored vents, crystals embedded within the cockpit - you name it. On one occasion, Bugatti has even embossed a customer's children's footprints on a car. We can't imagine that was any good for the resale value.

Even after all the critical decisions have been made, it can take Bugatti months just to get a customer-selected color exactly right. But when you're a member of the uber-wealthy shelling out big bucks for a bespoke French hypercar, we imagine getting the details exactly right is well worth the wait.

The track-focused Bugatti Divo, first revealed in 2018, is expected to start shipping out to customers this year. Limited to just 40 units, and starting from 5 million Euros each, more than two-thirds of buyers have opted to customize their exclusive hypercar, and Bugatti has shared a selection of some of the unique designs for fans to drool over.

"Every Divo is absolutely unique, the ultimate form of luxury. This limited and extremely high-performance hyper sports car has an exclusive character all of its own," says Stephan Winkelmann, President of Bugatti. "The Divo offers exceptional lateral acceleration as well as agility, and it is a must-have for any Bugatti enthusiast's hyper sports car collection."
