In the pantheon of muscle car greats, a number of Ford products stand out head and shoulders above the rest. And while the latest Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 might only have launched just a few short months ago, it's already claimed legendary status by virtue of its 760 horsepower from a supercharged 5.2-liter V8. Pair that with 625 lb-ft of torque, a lightning-quick seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and track-ready underpinnings, and the Shelby GT500 is more than just a 3.3-second 0-60 mph car - it's an instant classic. But while in North America, Mexico, and the Middle East you can purchase one and enjoy the automotive embodiment of America for around $70,000, those in Europe weren't allowed to get their hands on the GT500… until now.

There's a reason the GT500 isn't sold through Ford in Europe, and it largely pertains to the ultra-strict emissions legislation that simple isn't geared to accept a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 like the one in the GT500. But while it isn't available through Ford, Austrian based importer Peicher US-Cars has stepped up to the plate as an independent importer, and the company has announced it will be making the GT500 available in Europe, albeit for a pretty insane price.

While in the US, the base price for a GT500 is $72,900, the markup required to cover import duties and profit markup for Peicher US-Cars sees the asking price rise steeply in Europe to 109,990 euros, which works out to a little more than $120,000 at the time of writing. That's before options like specifying the Carbon Fiber Track Pack, which adds another 45,000 euros ($49,700) to the asking price compared to the $18,500 premium it commands from Ford in the US.

So while Europe may now have access to what is arguably one of the most iconic cars of the new decade, you could be paying nearly double what you would if you purchased one in the US. For those that have the money, we suppose it's not going to be a problem, but we can't fathom paying $170,000 and getting the material quality found in a Mustang when for the same money you could buy a Porsche 911 Turbo that will do 0-60 mph in just 2.9 seconds.
