This Is How Lugging Can Destroy Your Engine

Engine

You know not to lug your engine, but did you ever wonder what happens when you do?

One of the first things drivers learning how to operate a manual transmission learn is to not lug the engine. Many people don’t know why lugging an engine is bad. They just know that it feels bad when you hit the gas in a high gear and at a low rpm range. Fortunately for all of us mechanical neophytes, Engineering Explained is here to describe in great detail why lugging is bad and how it can lead to engine problems.
