Can this take on German competition?
The first photo of Infiniti’s new compact hatch have just appeared and we have to say, it looks really good. It’s been two years since the automaker revealed the Q30 concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show and now pictures of the final design have popped up before the vehicle’s official debut in September. The compact hatch has a poised, flowing design that is based on the Mercedes-Benz A-Class and GLA-class. From the pictures that Infiniti put out, the Q30 looks like it’ll bring some sportiness to the hatch/crossover segment.
Infiniti didn’t release any tips on the vehicle’s powertrain, but the ‘2.2d’ badge on the Q30’s fender points towards Mercedes’ 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel that makes 168 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. The engine will be mated to either a six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic transmission. The five-door hatchback will look extremely similar to the upcoming Infiniti QX30, which will be the brand’s crossover. The Q30 will be revealed at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show on September 15 and sales of the Q30—along with the QX30—will commence some time in 2016.
