What you're about to see and hear is the successor to the outgoing Ford Shelby Mustang GT500. Our spy photographers have just snapped images of the 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 with very little camouflage running laps at the Nurburgring. There's still that funky paint job plastered over the exterior, but there aren't any plastic panels covering up the car's details. The reason for the lack of camo is because Ford SVT engineers need to do high speed testing for the final development stage.

Note the extensive aero package, as well as its big brake calipers and Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. Sources indicate this test mule could very well be the GT350R, the track-focused version of the GT350.

N/A

Think of this relationship as similar to how the previous-gen Boss 302 was to the 302 Laguna Seca. So yes, the GT350R is a road car you'll be able to buy. Under the hood, we're likely to find a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 featuring a flat crank shaft, and an output above 500 horsepower. Along with the images ahead, also check out the video of the GT350R running laps. It sounds absolutely glorious.
