This Is The Badass Manual And V12 5 Series BMW Should Have Built

Impractical? Yes. Magical? Also yes.

Here is one of those cars you've heard that local guy talking about. The insane build some shop did for a rich guy, taking a civil vehicle that was too mundane for that Jordan Belfort-esque lifestyle he so proudly lives. Or maybe this is just one hell of an epic sleeper? Starting life as a standard 1995 BMW E34 5 Series it has now changed into a six-speed manual V12 monster sedan. The 3.0-liter DOHC V8 is gone and in its stead sits a beastly 5.0-liter V12. That wasn't even the original swap.

This 5 Series originally sported a Hartge 6.0-liter V12. That engine was sadly donated to another project, though we can't really complain when it still packs twelve-cylinders of Bavarian fury lifted from an 850i. The E34 features stage three Dinan brakes, sway bars, and rides on Koni shocks. The vehicle was for sale on Bring a Trailer but has since been sold for the low sum of $5,200. Yep, some lucky dude is walking away with a three pedal tango-ready V12 5 Series. Of course we can't be too jealous. The post notes some rather fixer-upper characteristics better for the mechanically inclined person. What do you think: Is this one of those crazy Internet vehicles? Or just some twelve-cylinder money pit?
