BMW unveils Concept Roadster at Villa d'Este.
Having celebrated its 90th anniversary last year with the reveal of the Concept Ninety at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este, BMW has returned to the shores of Lake Como with another motorcycle study from BMW Motorrad. Dubbed the Concept Roadster, the naked bike showcases the automaker’s vision for its future lineup of boxer-powered roadsters. It comes powered by a 2-cylinder boxer engine rated at 123 hp and 92 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheel via a cardan drive.
The bike's futuristic design centers on a light tubular space frame complete with a single-sided swing arm suspension and a gloss-milled aluminum rear end. It also sports an avant garde engine spoiler that “performs an aerodynamic function but also incorporates the entire front silencer," according to BMW. Other highlights include a thin strip of LED headlights and an Alcantara-wrapped seat.
