It cost just $3,400 when it was purchased on April 15, 1964 – two days before the then completely new Ford Mustang was supposed to go on sale. But for Gail Wise, it just so happened to be her lucky day. At the time, she was a fresh college graduate who just landed a job teaching third grade. And she needed a car to get her to work. So she went with her parents to the local Ford dealership, where a salesman was all too happy to show her the Mustang hidden in the back.
