AMG A35

The Mercedes-AMG A35 4MATIC would best be described as a "warm" hatchback. We don't mean that disparagingly, it's just isn't as "hot" as the full-on A45 is all. Its 2.0-liter turbo four still kicks out 302 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, but one of the biggest names in Benz tuning is heating it up.

Brabus is planning on giving the A35 two stages of tune. The first is the PowerXtra B 35 tuning kit, which adds 43 horsepower and 44 lb-ft, neatly bringing the power figures up to 340 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque.

If that's not enough extra thrill from a Brabus A35, the PowerXtra B 35 S upgrade brings power up to 360 horsepower and 359 lb-ft of torque. That's enough to accelerate the A35 to 62 mph in just 4.2 seconds through the all-wheel-drive system and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Brabus doesn't stop at the engine though. Aesthetics and aerodynamics are altered with a new rear wing that replaces the production unit, a new two-piece front spoiler, and side air intake elements that, when added together, Brabus promises brings "an optimal aerodynamic balance and even more thrilling looks from the rear."

Also affecting looks and performance are gloss black Brabus Monoblock T alloy wheels shod with Pirelli P Zero 235/35 ZR 19 tires. There's also a stainless sport exhaust system with integrated sound management that can be matched to the stock tailpipes or with the optional Brabus quad stainless/carbon exhaust tips. For the interior, and like most Brabus cars, the customer can have it tailored as much or as little as they wish according to taste.

The Brabus A 35 will debut at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, which starts on September 12.
