Dodge has become an industry expert at keeping an aging sedan (and coupe) not only alive and well but also relevant. That's not easy to do. But when those vehicles are the Dodge Charger and Challenger, the task immediately becomes far easier. Fortunately, Dodge has that absolutely ludicrous 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat V8 with at least 707 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque in its arsenal and continues to use it very effectively. Another method to keep both vehicles front and center is with special editions.

For the remaining 2019 models, Dodge has just released details and photos of its Charger Octane Edition. It will only be available for a short period of time before Dodge discontinues it at the end of the '19 model year. But don't worry, the Charger Hellcat isn't going anywhere.

So, what is the Octane Edition? It's an optional appearance package that carries an additional $1,495 on top of the sedan's MSRP of $67,245. The package includes a choice of two exterior colors, Pitch Black or White Knuckle. Both receive a full body-length Satin Black center stripe with Octane Red accents along its edges. There are also black badges and a darkened front grille and rear spoiler.

Dodge has also added the Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320's black 20-inch aluminum forged wheels as well as Brembo brakes with red six-piston calipers up front and four-piston calipers out back.

Inside are new SRT Performance seats with the SRT Hellcat logo, a Houndstooth insert, some red contrast stitching throughout, and cool red seatbelts. Lastly, the instrument panel comes with glossy black accents and a black-on-black panel badge. No changes have been made under the hood.

Dealers are currently accepting orders now and will continue to do so only through the end of the model year. Expect the 2019 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Octane Edition to arrive in dealerships this fall.
