This is the Story of the F-150 Raptor

Off-Road

To this day, there is no other factory-built 4x4 pickup like the Ford Raptor. Now learn the story on how our favorite off-road machine came to be.

There was never anything quite like it on the road or off, and even to this day, no other competing automaker has managed to build something on par with Ford’s F-150 SVT Raptor. From the day the Raptor debuted back in 2010, it was evident that this would be the only production truck that would allow you to survive the Zombie Apocalypse. The high-performance, 6.2-liter V8-powered off-road wonder was first conceived in 2008 as Ford engineers and designers sought to create the ultimate pickup truck.

The following video is the story of how the Raptor came to be. Thanks to Autoweek’s exclusive interview with Raptor chief engineer Jamal Hameedi and senior exterior designer Bruce Williams, see how Ford set out to build the ultimate off-roader at a time when gas prices spiked.
