Mercedes joins the one-mile-high club.
Building luxury interiors is what Mercedes-Benz has been doing for almost a century. So when the German carmaker was tasked with creating an ultra-luxurious cabin for Lufthansa’s fleet of short- and medium-haul aircraft, the result was typically impressive. Using a combination of elegant wood trim and leather furniture, the cabin concept boasts a ‘floating’ dining table, electrochromic windows that can be electrically dimmed, a fish tank and a flat-screen TV.
According to Daimler AG Vice President of Design Gorden Wagener, "It was an inspiring challenge to transfer our design philosophy of sensual purity into the area of aeronautical engineering. The spectacular architecture of the interior shows creativity and modernity. Sensual surfaces and clear forms, combined with intelligent high-tech features and perfectly shaped modern luxury are the characteristic features of Mercedes-Benz design."
