This Is What Makes The Incredible Lamborghini Essenza SCV12 So Special

New video reveals some of the juicy details about Lambo's new 830-hp track car.

Lamborghini took the covers off the sensational track-ready Essenza SCV12 back in July, a supercar that sports the brand's most powerful V12 engine ever. It produces over 830 horsepower and just 40 examples of them will be made.

To share more information about this special machine, the Italian marque shared a new video presented by Adriano Tozzi, the Essenza SCV12 Liaison Manager, which must rank as just about the coolest job title ever. Tozzi starts off by explaining that 'Essenza' means 'essence' in Italian; it's a car that truly represents the heart and soul of the brand.

Described by Lamborghini as the purest track machine, Tozzi delves into the mechanicals, explaining that the six-speed sequential structural gearbox by X-trac is mounted at the back of the Essenza.

The 'structural' aspect of the box relates to the fact that the suspension system is directly mounted on top of the transmission, partially explaining why the car is so long.

Climbing aboard the Essenza, the F1-style steering wheel houses controls for the ABS braking system, the traction control, and the engine mapping settings. Notably, the ultra-strong carbon fiber monocoque negates the need for a steel roll cage, unlike in previous Lambo track cars. Aerodynamically, there is a lot to take in. It's not just the visual theater of a car that makes an Aventador look tame, but the functionality that has gone into the Essenza's design. At 155 mph, 2,646 pounds of downforce is generated.

Tozzi moves on to expand upon Lamborghini's new Purest Track Program. Essentially, Lamborghini wants to encourage those 40 lucky customers to drive the Essenza as intended.

The program is made up of specific track days, on-demand track days depending on specific customer wishes, and the Essenza SCV12 club. From 2021, owners will be able to attend five track days, with Lamborghini organizing a drivers' tutor, technical support, and more. A single event per year is included for three years, with additional track days available at a cost that no Essenza SCV12 owner should have any trouble paying for.

As one of the most exclusive Lamborghinis ever, the Essenza SCV12 club offers a dedicated bay in a special facility, a private delivery ceremony, and an initial test on a race track.

Not only is the Essenza SCV12 a masterpiece of engineering, but Lamborghini has ensured that each owner gets to experience this car the way its designers intended.
