The current Subaru WRX STI is in desperate need of a refresh. Even though the current generation is only a few years old, its engine dates back to the early 2000s and its output lags behind competitors. Subaru has already revealed the fifth generation Impreza for 2017, but has yet to announce a WRX or STI model based on the new car. Luckily, you don't have to wait to see what a new STI could look like because Theophiluschin has rendered a new STI based on the latest generation of the Impreza.

We really enjoy the styling, and feel that it would be a welcomed improvement over the current model. The rendering artist said that they hesitate "in rendering aggressive variants of any model. Itself almost an icon, many will possibly find this to tame in styling to be worthy of that badge." We agree that the STI fans are definitely a tough crowd to please. Many people don't like the current STI model because it's too subtle and there's no hatchback variant. We look forward to seeing what Subaru has in store for the new STI, hopefully more than 305 horsepower and a refreshed engine. If Subaru increased power to around 350 hp, the Ford Focus RS could be in for some competition.
