This is the Hyundai Enduro concept, a beefed-up Veloster inspired by rally motorcycles. The concept looks rugged with its side steps, wider and higher stance and protruding wheel arches. However, Hyundai said its concept isn't meant to be taken off-road, saying it's designed for "individuals living in the modern city with energetic, athletic lifestyles." Those individuals will get to enjoy a driver-focused cabin complete with a steering wheel inspired by motorcycle hand moldings (seriously).

Other cool features include a hidden slide-out storage shelf in the rear and the wraparound taillights on the hatch. You've got to wonder what Hyundai is up to with the Enduro, especially since sales of the Veloster haven't exactly been insane. This doesn't appear to be a showcase of a new design direction. Also, Hyundai went ahead and dropped its turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder mated to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission in the Enduro. There has been talk of a Hyundai truck after the HCD-15 Santa Cruz pickup concept wowed at the Detroit Auto Show. Perhaps if the press and public show the Enduro some love then this funky CUV/faux off-roader could be next up.
