It's been a long time coming, but Genesis now has a luxury SUV in its lineup. Last week, the 2021 Genesis GV80 finally made its debut sporting a sleek design similar to the striking GV80 Concept, and an opulent interior with two- and three-row seating options. This will allow Genesis to enter the lucrative luxury SUV and take on the likes of the BMW X5 and Audi Q7.

So far, we know that the Genesis GV80 will go on sale in Korea this month with a single 3.0-liter turbo diesel producing 278 horsepower and 434 lb-ft of torque, which will be the only option available in its home market. US specifications haven't been announced yet, but a new report by The Korean Blog claims that we don't have long to wait for America's Genesis GV80 to arrive.

According to the publication, the US-spec Genesis GV80 will debut during the 2020 Super Bowl, which kicks off on February 3. Last year's game was watched by nearly 100 million viewers, so this is the perfect way to promote the Korean luxury SUV to potential US customers and give it maximum exposure. It will face a lot of competition, however, as mainstream automakers often air Super Bowl commercials.

Yong-Woo Lee, vice president of the Genesis division, also confirmed a summer launch for the Genesis GV80 outside of Korea.

"We have secured more than 350 Genesis dealerships in the US market last year," he said. "We plan to introduce the GV80 for next month's Super Bowl. A full-scale new car launch will take place around summer."

While we still don't know the technical specs for America's GV80, we're expecting the luxury SUV to be offered with a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder producing 304 hp in the base model and a twin-turbo V6, which produces 365 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque in the Genesis G70, G80, and G90. Hopefully, we'll also find out the pricing details for the US model soon.
