The follow-up to Ford's hot-selling light-duty pickup truck, the F-150, is just around the corner, and we finally know exactly when it will debut: Thursday, June 25 at 8:00pm Eastern Time. That date and time were confirmed by Ford's North American Product Communications Manager, Mike Levine, via Twitter on Friday. This should shoot down any further reporting that has so far wrongly proclaimed when the 14th-generation F-150 will be unmasked.

Previously, it had been rumored that the truck would bow at Detroit's North American International Auto Show, but with that event's cancellation, the timing of the new F-150's reveal was left uncertain.

When we say "new" F-150, we really mean new; this will be the first head-to-toe redesign for the full-size truck since its switch to a full aluminum-alloy body for the thirteenth generation in 2015.

Changes to the design and structure for the 2021 Ford F-150 aren't expected to be so revolutionary, but the new truck will birth at least two electrified variants: a plug-in hybrid, and a battery-electric model. The hybrid is expected to be revealed first, possibly at the same time that Ford shows off the new gas-only model line, but the pure-electric version might not debut until sometime next year.

Orders for the new 2021 Ford F-150 could open up on July 15, according to insiders, while production is expected to start in mid-October, pushing the anticipated start of availability into late autumn or early winter. Granted, that timeline hasn't been confirmed by Ford, and the situation for automakers is still very fluid.

There's plenty else to be excited for from the 2021 Ford F-150, too, from its anticipated onboard electrical generator, to a thoughtfully overhauled interior, replete with an available 15.5-inch infotainment display, digital instrument panel, and nifty stow-away shifter. The onboard generator, long touted as a future perk of the plug-in-hybrid F-150, is now in fact also expected to be offered on gas-only models.

We'll know more come June 25, so stay tuned.
