Sadly, it won't be coming to America.
Last month, the new hardcore Nissan Patrol Nismo was spied completely undisguised during a commercial shoot in the Middle East, where the Patrol is incredibly popular. In the US, the Patrol is sold as the Nissan Armada, but the high-performance Nismo version has never been sold on US soil.
The recent sighting seemed to suggest the performance SUV's debut was imminent, and now Nissan has announced an official reveal date. In a short teaser video posted on the Nissan Middle East YouTube channel, the automaker confirmed the new Nissan Patrol Nismo will debut on March 31.
The short clip provides a shadowy preview of the Nismo Patrol's sporty silhouette. Since the regular Armada has already received a facelift, we have a good idea of what its Nismo sibling will look like.
We get a brief look at the Patrol Nismo's new LED headlights, which feature 50 LEDs in each headlamp. The grille is blacked-out, but the sportier Patrol will sport a larger version of Nissan's V-Motion grille. As we saw in last month's leaked photos of the undisguised SUV, the Nismo variant will be spiced up with aggressive air intakes, new side skirts, and red accents, along with a rear diffuser and a quad exhaust system.
The new Patrol Nismo will also ride on larger 22-inch Rays wheels. As for the interior, the cabin will be distinguished by aluminum pedals and Nismo badging.
Under the hood, the refreshed Patrol Nismo will be powered a 5.6-liter V8. This unit has been tuned to generate 428 hp, but it could get a slight power increase. For comparison, the regular Nissan Armada is powered by a 5.6-liter V8 producing 390 hp and 394 lb-ft of torque. Like the current model, the hot Patrol Nismo SUV will be sold exclusively for the Middle Eastern market, so don't get your hopes up about it coming to America.
