Most car guys will tell you how much they love a good station wagon, and those that don't should not be taken seriously. While the station wagon has fallen out of favor, manufacturers such as Audi are keeping the dream alive with cars such as the insane RS6 Avant. The golden years for this body style has to be the 1970s, and many car designers today are drawing inspiration from that era to come up with amazing renderings. Giordano Vittorini, a one-time intern at GM, has now created a digital rendering of what he believes a modern Chevy wagon would look like if it was built right now.

Chevrolet has swapped station wagons for SUVs such as the Tahoe, but back in the day, it used to build some cool cars, including the Chevy Opala, which was a Brazilian-market vehicle that was available in both sedan and wagon configurations. This car was produced up until the 1990s, but Vittorini drew inspiration for what he calls the 'Chevrolet Caravan SS' from models built during the 70s, a time when his dad used to own two of these cars. Vittorini started with the Opala as a base, and the original lines of the car are still noticeable in his render, but a lot of changes have taken place, leaving us with a car that looks unlike anything we've ever seen.

The front of this render is clearly influenced by the current-gen Camaro, which could explain the use of the 'SS' moniker for this design, and the muscular lines of the front-end continue down the side of the car which includes massively shaped rear quarters. Huge double five-spoke wheels hide huge brakes, and the rear end is separated from the rest of the body by a bold black pillar where we see a set of serious exhaust tips and a big wing. Vittorini claims that his aim with this design was to "bring the passion of a classic car to a modern concept," and we think he nailed it.
