We've seen so many ridiculous dash cams from Russia showing some of the most insane crashes, but there's apparently a very good reason why those dash cams are there in the first place. Turns out Russians have a thing for taking advantage of a law that states even if a driver is not at fault for hitting a pedestrian, he or she is still legally bound to pay compensation for the damage to the health of said pedestrian.

If the driver is at fault, then they must pay all medical expenses plus monetary compensation along with compensation for "moral damage." So basically jumping in front of cars, trucks and buses has become a money-making method for dead beat Russians.
