This special edition Jeep Renegade, called RED Renegade, is part of something larger. Jeep's parent company, Stellantis, has partnered with the RED Campaign to "support the critical work of the Global Fund over the next three years." In short, both the Global Fund and RED helps fight diseases, pandemics, and everything in between.

Jim Morrison, head of Jeep North America said that "a percentage from the sales of every Jeep RED Renegade and Jeep RED Compass special editions will help support the critical work of the Global Fund and the fight against pandemics." In Jeep's eyes, this is the chance for everyone involved to benefit. The RED Campaign and the Global Fund get some funding to help fight health emergencies the world over, you get a new car, and Jeep gets to make a bit of money. Win, win, win all around then.

These special editions of the Jeep Compass and Renegade are both solely cosmetic special editions. Think of it like the Altitude pack offered on the Compass. The RED Renegade is based on the Latitude trim of the small SUV, so you can expect to get all of the options typically included in that. Jeep wants $29,590 for the special edition SUV, before $1,595 in destination charges. For that money, you get special Colorado Red mirror caps, black roof rails, a body-color roof, the special 19-inch wheels you see above, and of course, unique RED badges. There's also a choice of Alpine (white), black, Colorado Red, and Sting Grey paint. While no information on the RED Compass was available, we expect many of the same cosmetic changes.

Given that this is a cosmetic change only, things stay unchanged mechanically. That means a 1.3L turbo four-cylinder making 177 hp and 175 lb-ft of torque. That's all hooked up to a 4x4 system controlled by Jeep's 9-speed automatic transmission.

We said in our review of the Renegade that Jeep still wants to prove even its smallest car is still a Jeep, and as such comes with the "Trail-Rated" badge, showing that no other subcompact is as capable as this off-road. If you're in the market for a small subcompact and looking to contribute to society a little, it's hard not to consider this offering from America's most off-road-focused brand. The RED Campaign has already raised nearly $700 million for the Global Fund, and hopefully, Compass and Renegade buyers can help pump those numbers up. Those are rookie numbers.
