Even though last year's SEMA special was forced to go digital due to the ongoing pandemic, Ford still delivered with some show-stopping hits. One of these was the 2021 Ford F-150 Limited Hybrid SuperCrew by BDS Suspension. As if the regular new F-150 hybrid with its powerful onboard generator wasn't enough, BDS took it to another level - quite literally. We now have more information about this special truck which will make an appearance at the upcoming King of the Hammers off-road race. If ever there was a truck that could tackle challenging terrain at high speeds, it's this one.

Most noticeably, this custom truck uses a BDS Suspension system with a four-inch lift. According to BDS, this is the first-to-market lift kit for the new F-150 pickup. Besides the obvious increase in ground clearance, the F-150 Limited can now pack in larger wheels and tires; in this case, they're 20x10 Method Race wheels Series 304 with a distinctive machined finish. These are wrapped in 35-inch Mickey Thompson Baja Boss mud-terrain tires that enhance traction in off-road environments. This mean F-150 also boasts FOX 2.5 Factory Race DSC coilovers and shocks. The internal bypass system assists with added control when encountering obstacles at higher speeds.

Other upgrades include a cat-back design for the Ford performance Borla exhaust system, plus a rear differential cover, an ARB twin air compressor, and a Ridetech LevelTow air bag system. The latest F-150 isn't a huge departure from the outgoing model stylistically, but this custom version has a much bolder look to go along with its added capability. A fender flare kit from Air Designs matches the F-150's body color and balances out the added wheel/tire size proportionally. There is also a custom vinyl graphics package and a grille emblem with Putco Illuminix LED lighting.

The regular F-150 comes with many useful features, but this one also gets a decked storage system, extra storage via Rotopac two-gallon containers, a Yakima Slim Shady awning, a Miller Multimatic 255 welder, and an array of Ford tools. A Yakima bike rack and an ARB elements refrigerator make this a fantastic camping vehicle. To lug all this stuff around, the 3.5-liter V6 PowerBoost hybrid powertrain develops 430 horsepower and 570 lb-ft of torque. The PowerBoost provides unique access to Ford's superb 7.2 kWh Pro Power onboard generator. Whether for high-speed off-roading, camping, or tough jobs that require the right equipment and an unmatched power source, BDS' F-150 does it all.
