A good livery can make or break a race car. Porsche's roster includes some of the best liveries of all time and more recently, we've seen some cool designs on the Corvette Racing C8.R. While most race cars are finished in a boring shade like silver or white, assuming a crazy livery will go over it anyway, Audi is ready to try something different with its latest R8 LMS customer race car. Introducing the Audi R8 LMS GT2 Color Edition, a small six-car limited edition series.

"For the first time in the 13-year history of Audi Sport customer racing we are offering such a color concept to our customers," says Chris Reinke, Head of Audi Sport customer racing. "With one model per color, our Color Edition guarantees pure individuality and will not be issued a second time like this."

The R8 LMS GT2 Color Edition is available in six of Audi's boldest hues, all of which have appeared on recent models. These six colors include Vegas Yellow, Tactical Green, Sebring Black, Nogaro Blue, Misano Red, and Kyalami Green. "It is unique compared to our competitors and attracts attention - whether as a collector's item or as a race car at track days and competitions," Reinke added.

Each paint color is applied directly to the car's CFRP body, but the roof section, mirrors, roof scoop, and wing always remain black. No matter which color customers choose, each car comes with wheels, wing mounts, and a roll cage finished in bronze.

Powered by a 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 with 640 horsepower, the R8 LMS GT2 is Audi's most potent customer race car. Not only is this 38 hp more than the R8 road car, but the LSM GT2 is much lighter, with a 2,976-pound dry weight. Like the base Audi R8 road car, this version only sends its power to the rear wheels. If you'd like a Skittle-colored R8 race car, prices start at 349,000 euros plus VAT (around $422,000).
